Silver City hosted the Legislative Interim Committee on August 5 & 6 at the Grant County Business and Conference Center.
Sen. Joseph Cervantes chaired the meetings and local legislator Representative Rudy Martinez was in attendance. Senator Morales stopped in to give opening remarks and Representative Dow had a different Committee meeting in T or C at the same time.
The Grant County Prospectors sponsored the meeting along with Freeport McMoRan, Hidalgo Medical Services, Grant County Democratic Party and the Silver City Regional Association of Realtors.

Grant County welcomed the Science, Technology & Telecommunication Legislative Interim Committee in August 2017. This committee meeting chaired by Rep Candie Sweetser was held at WNMU J. Cloyd Miller Library.

The New Mexico Legislative Education Study Committee met in Silver City this morning, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at the Western New Mexico University J. Cloyd Miller Library. The sessions continued in the afternoon and will resume Friday morning.
Bruce Ashburn, Grant County Prospectors’ president, welcomed back those legislators who have attended prior committee meetings in Silver City and welcomed those for whom it was a first visit. “This is the third time we have hosted a legislative interim committee meeting this year. We hope you will take time to visit our downtown.” He explained the mission of the Prospectors.
“We thank you for choosing Silver City for your meeting,” Ashburn concluded.
