Prospectors Host Interim Veterans Committee

The Grant County Prospectors hosted the NM Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee at the Grant County Business & Conference center on Thursday, July 13.

New Mexico Representative Rudy Martinez, District 39 serves as the chairman of this committee and New Mexico Representative Rebecca Dow, District 38 is an advisory member.

Partnering sponsors included Grant County, State Farm Insurance – Jon Saari/Chuck Johnson, Grant County Democrat Party, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 358, Howell Graphic Design and Southwest NM Council of Governments.

Capital Outlay Workshop

We will be holding a capital outlay workshop a little earlier this year so that it will allow you to make sure projects are included in the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan.

Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plans are due in September and this workshop will serve as a refresher on what is eligible and how to submit a request.  Please feel free to forward to interested persons.

2015 Interim Committee Visits to Silver City

The Grant County Prospectors are pleased to announce that they, along with other entities in Silver City, will be hosting two New Mexico Legislative Interim Committees in 2015.

Economic and Rural Development Committee – will be in Silver City on Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15, 2015 – Representative Dianne Hamilton, Vice-Chair, Representative John Zimmerman, Member.

Water & Natural Resources Committee – will be in Silver City on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1, 2015.

Legislative Education Study Committee – will be in Silver City on Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25, 2015 –Senator Howie Morales, Member.

These meetings will be held at Western New Mexico University in the Miller Library.

Captital Outlay Workshop

A capital outlay workshop will be held on October 22, 2014 at 10:00 am at the City Hall Annex 2nd Floor Conference Room. In addition, Jim Barentine will give a short presentation on CES (Cooperative Educational Services).

Prospectors Hosted the Leglisative Behavioural Health Subcommittee

The Prospectors Hosted the NM Military and Veteran’s Affairs Committee

The Grant County Prospectors hosted the August 25, 2014 meeting of the New Mexico Military and Veteran’s Affairs Committee.

The Prospectors and Western New Mexico University held a welcome reception on Sunday evening to welcome Legislators, Staffers and guests. The morning of the meeting Gila Regional Hospital provided breakfast for the meeting attendees, and the Vietnam Veterans of Chapter 358 provided lunch for the committee.

Prospector Activities

The Grant County Prospectors hosted a luncheon on April 25th and invited Senator Morales, Representative Hamilton and Representative Martinez to give remarks about the 2013 New Mexico Legislative session.  Also at this meeting current Prospectors invited prospective members to come and listen to the presentations.  Senator Morales repeatedly thanked the Prospectors for their process of the Legislative Communication Form along with Grant County Day at the capitol.  He stated that the Prospector’s notebooks for presentations and capitol outlay requests is a model for others.

2012 Capital Outlay Workshop

The Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments will holding a Capital Outlay Workshop for local governments on November 6th at the Town of Silver City, City Hall Annex, 1203 N. Hudson, 2nd floor conference room 9:00 – 12:00 to go over the requirements of seeking capital outlay.  The workshop will assist you in filling out your capital outlay request form and allow you the opportunity to ask questions regarding your proposed request.    Most importantly I would like this workshop to be an opportunity for us to assist you with filling out your capital outlay request.  Bring your laptop or your paper copy and we can get a head start on 2013 requests.

For those local governments located in Grant County,  please note that the Prospectors Legislative Forum will be held on November 30, 2012 at the Global Resource Center and your capital outlay request forms must be turned in by November 15th.
